Many people think chickens are stupid. I'll be the first to tell you I have witnessed first hand that they are not! They are always thinking. Mickey is still sitting on four eggs but she has to get up to eat and drink and take poopy breaks so I worry she'll get back on the wrong nest and her eggs will get cold. (She HAS done this once that I caught and my MIL's chicken did this.) Well, I shouldn't worry about her. This morning I went out with their water and there was Mickey, wandering around off her nest..... I look over and in the nest are two other hens, crowded but sitting peacefully. I thought "what the heck???" and approached them to shoo them out and put Mickey back in. These two girls b*tched me out to no end and I didn't want attacked so I just let them be and came back inside. I figured if she gets off her nest, no babies for her! Curiosity got the better of me though so I went back out a minute ago to see what was up and there was Mickey, back on her eggs and the other hens were in other nests. I think she hired babysitters! LOL
