This is Mickey, Colby's black hen. She's been trying to sit on eggs for awhile now but it's been too cold so I've been taking them from her. Now of course, it's SPRING so I'm letting her have at it! She had 5 eggs under her last night but I took 3 of them and left her two to hatch. Somehow she obtained 2 more eggs today though so I give up and she gets 4 babies if they all hatch. :o) I took them today when she got off her nest to mark them and once she realized they were gone she started chattering away. I gave them back and she shoved them all back under her and gave me a scolding. Chickens are so cute! It's especially fun to watch them be Mamas! I guess if she stays on this clutch the babies will hatch around the 28th.....if she gets up and gives up there is another little hen out there that tries off and on to be a Mama so I'll let her. Yay for babies!
